Physical and Occupational Therapists are essential in flattening the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. They play a key role in keeping people they can help out of the doctor's offices and ER's. This will not only free up the medical teams to treat those impacted by COVID-19, but also limit the exposure of those seeking the care of the therapists.

Kato received her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 1989. She has worked in the Central Valley since 1996 with experience in acute care OT, home health, student education, industrial rehab / ergonomic consultation with main focus on hand therapy. She achieved her CHT (Certified hand therapist) status in 2001 and enjoys the challenges with post-surgical rehabilitation of the Upper Extremity, burn rehab, UE prosthetic training and ADL modifications to improve maximum functional independence. She is the Fellowship Coordinator for unique (1 of 7 in the USA) OT/ Hand therapy Fellowship program at Pine Street PT/OT that was approved by AOTA in 2018. She is a member of the American Society of Hand therapists (ASHT), member of AOTA, Ca-HTA (CA Hand therapy Association) and continues to be a member of the the Central Valley hand therapy group that meets monthly.
